Co-directors Mark Keene and Shane Thompson established Optimus to offer sophisticated investors a different style of financial services and advice. Over 20 years, Mark and Shane have developed an intimate understanding of the needs of those with wealth and those keen to build wealth. Mark and Shane are ably supported by a team of professional and experienced staff.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant and accredited SMSF Specialist Adviser (SSATM), a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a CA accredited financial planning specialist. He is committed to enhancing relationships with professional advisers and their clients, through implementing high level SMSF and tax restructuring initiatives with regard to business restructuring, estate and succession planning, wealth management and investment advice. He specialty though, is finding great investments and being involved comprehensively.
Shane is a Private Client Adviser with a Diploma in Financial Planning and is a specialist SMSF Adviser. Shane has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry providing advice to private clients in the areas of superannuation, retirement planning, wealth accumulation, asset protection and private equity.
Barak is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has over 10 years of accounting, taxation and commercial experience. With a comprehensive technical background, Barak is an adaptive, informed, personable and friendly member of our team. Barak is keen to take on new challenges, solve problems and enjoys working with personal and business clients in providing practical, cost effective and tailored advice. Barak and his wife have three young children and enjoy making the most of Perth’s beautiful outdoors on the weekends. Barak has worked with clients across various industry sectors in Melbourne, London and for the past five years in Perth. He’s our very own “International Man of Mystery”!
Holly joined Optimus in Dec 2016. She has a Diploma in Accounting and over 18 years’ experience in Customer Service and Administration roles. Holly provides valued support to the financial services department. When not in the office, Holly can be found coaching at her kids Little Athletics Club and dreaming of her next holiday destination.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning and SMSF accreditation. Jason has over 7 years’ experience in the financial services industry, also considerable experience in the art of house husbanding! Real financial planning is Jason’s passion. He believes in a balanced approach which takes into account the client’s entire situation, understanding individual needs, concerns and aspirations before tailoring a cohesive plan for the future.
Justin is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning. Over the past 20 years, he has gained valuable experience in the areas of financial planning, wealth management, accounting and auditing. His combined experience, enables him to ensure Optimus continues to be highly compliant and client centric company. Away from the office, Justin loves spending time with family and friends, gardening and being a volunteer. He's really funny also :)
Kerry is our "whizz" bookkeeper with over 12 years experience in a broad range of business industries. She holds a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Kerry enjoys working directly with our clients to help them streamline their accounting processes. Kerry is also our Complete Asset Manager specialist. Don't freak out everyone, but Kerry's passion is breeding snakes. Personally, they make us "hissssterical!
Rebecca is our newest employee at Optimus and with more than 20 years of administration experience she is quickly taking charge of our day to day operations. As our first point of contact, Rebecca is always happy to say hello when you call, or greet you with a smile when you drop in. With a renovated 1970's caravan and a dusty passport at home, adding to her list of travel destinations is a never ending passion, so feel free to share you latest vacation must-do's with her.
Michelle is a CPA with 20 years accounting and tax experience in commerce and professional practice. After spending a year with Optimus on SMSF’s and CompleteAssetManager, she is now enjoying being involved with our Project work which sees her working on a wide variety of projects.
After taking a break from the workforce to raise two rambunctious boys, Shay resumed her accounting career in 2014. With 11 years experience across a number of accounting practices, including over 6 years here at Optimus Shay’s greatest satisfaction lies in truly understanding a client’s needs. She also makes a mean key lime pie.
A chartered accountant of 25 years, Sue provides the senior administrative management of the Optimus Group. She has been with Optimus, in a part-time role for over 18 years.
Sunita is a CPA and has spent the last couple of years in a family business and have just joined Optimus be part of the SMSF division.
